first week.

I have finally settled in one place for more then a few days.  i will be staying with my host family for the month of august before moving to the city for the rest of my stay. i have had a chance to go along the coast and see a lot of wellington.  the week is filled with work and the weekends with travel, no complaints here.
this weekends plans are up in the air, but might include a trip to Napier, hopefully the weather cooperates.

after spending the last few days with my host family i have decided that i want my kids to have a NZ accent.  I'm not quite sure how i will manage pulling that off.
"this broccoli tastes like pure rubbish" just sounds so much cuter coming out with an accent.

in other news, i have found the these isle of the supermarket so I'm a happy camper

Gypsy life

Holy travels.  26 hours didn’t seem that bad on paper.  But I would not elect to do that again.  Although I did have a full row of seats on my flight from LA to Fiji, so I ended up passing out for 8 hours.

I am working for a Trust that works as a support system for families and children.  (With a special focus on lower income, and teen parents)
Just sitting at the office right now, people are currently working on a campaign called “Breast is best.” Exciting. I know.
i just finished meeting everyone and getting acclimated. The offices are right across the street from the mall, which is going to be trouble.

Im currently trying to get on the phone with PNC since those idiots turned off my credit card, even though I specifically called to tell them I would be traveling.

I am staying at my bosses house this weekend, and Monday I will move in with a family for my homestay for the next couple of weeks.  Last night her son ran into the living room and said, “Mum and Daddy were saying they were worried you might be a Gypsy? Are you a crazy Gypsy, ???” seems as though they stumbled across my blog, maybe I should change the title?

Feeling a bit overwhelmed, tired, jetlagged, not going to lie, but so far loving it, and it is so gorgeous.  The weather is around 50 degrees which is so nice! Feeling like crisp fall weather, so happy to pull out my oversized sweaters and boots.

Plan to explore the city this weekend with some people through the organization, that is all for know, update soon!

never a dull moment.

oh how i love to keep my life interesting.  although this time it was completely unintentional, i thought my flight was booked for thurs the 26th, (i had gone back and forth on dates while trying to find the best flight.)  my flight was actually booked for today.  I was just chilling in my bed last night before dinner, and i got an email saying i could check in for my flight, um what? check in, it was like 4 days away. then i proceeded to double check the flights, yea, I'm an idiot.  i threw some stuff into a bag, tore apart my room, said a few quick goodbyes, and voula, I'm sitting at LAX surrounded by a group of professional strippers waiting for there flight to take off.  they said they are going to a "conference."  oh how life changes so quickly. haha.
as i write this, I'm starting to get anxiety about everything i forgot to pack/ do before i left.  times like these i really wish i had a prescription for xanax.
I still have a full day of traveling, but will update when i arrive. xx

the waiting is the hardest part

the blog is back in action as i am gearing up for my move to Wellington! Wellington is located on the Southern tip of the Northern Island, here is a little map for your viewing pleasure

About three more weeks before I take the dreaded 26 hour plane ride across the very large pond.  I plan to be heavily sedated the majority of the time, and hopefully wake up, wheels down in NZ.  a girl can dream.

I have already begun to scout out local expat blogs and have found quite a few vintage boutiques located in the famous shopping district of Cuba street.  including this quaint little place
                                                                       Emporium

I will be staying with a family for three weeks, until i get my bearings, figure out public transport and such before I move into my apartment.  excited to meet some kiwis and explore.

email me with any travel recommendations!

can't wait for this to be my backyard playground

I also have some guest bloggers lined up in the next couple of weeks!
