gypsy travels

it was this exact day last year that Ais and I were rushing through our finals, packing our bags, and hopping on a flight from NY to Bangkok. See this post Off to Thailand. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, it was spontaneous, exciting, and so much fun.  We had no plans, no hotels, no friends coming with, neither of us even knew the currency.

(sidenote on the currency: when we got to our first hotel, we went to tip the person who brought our bags up to our room, we gave him some coins that we grabbed from the bottom of our purse, no idea how much we had handed him. He chuckled and left the room.  Later the next day, Ais came to the conclusion that we gave him a tip that was the equivalent of 30 cents. that explained the laugh he gave us as we handed it to him. woops)

But we had so many funny adventures, explored islands, ate awesome (and some awful) food, met some fun travelers from all over the world, swam in crystal waters, rode elephants, and laughed the entire time we were there.  Its hard to believe that trip was a year ago, and now Im getting antsy to go explore somewhere again, my little mind is scheming ways to escape. There are so many places I still want to explore.  Since I don’t have anything planned just yet, I figured I would just flip through old pics of our adventure and pretend Im back on the beach.

these are just a few of my favorite pictures from our journey, they make me laugh just looking at them:

[i love this photo because, Ais and I were trying to enjoy a drink at a streetside cafe, and this lady would not leave us alone. trying to sell her necklaces]

[our first and favorite hotel on the island of Koh Samui, Montien House]

[i dont need to explain why i love this picture]

[we explored islands for an entire day, and drank out of coconuts, basically perfect]

[kayaking around the island]
[the boats docked outside of our hotel]

[so funny]

[im so excited in this pic]

[i have no words, Ais was picked out of the crowd to ride an elephant]

[i want one]

Happy Friday

In Kansas the winters are brutal, but today the high was 55 so I had to take advantage of the warm weather and left my parka at home.
the biggest trend on campus right now is leggings and  I wanted to show a different way to wear them besides with a sweatshirt and frumpy outerwear.
